Who Should Attend

Any person who handles and prepares food and beverage in SFA-licensed food establishments, including Kitchen Managers, Supervisors, Chefs, Sous Chefs, Cooks, Kitchen Assistants, Food Stall Assistants, and all food and beverage handlers.

Course Overview

This course aims to equip food handlers with knowledge and skills on food safety and hygiene procedures and policies. By the end of the training, learners will be able to prepare safe and hygienic food as well as conduct checks on food premises to ensure safe food is being prepared in clean premises.

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Follow food safety and hygiene policies and procedures as per SFA stipulated guidelines
  • Inculcate the rationale of some of the practices for better understanding and assisted policing in licensed food premises

Pre-requisites

Candidates must be in proper dress code and adhere to the following when attending class:

  • Do not wear slippers
  • Do not wear accessories/jewelry
  • Do not wear nail polish or fake fingernails
  • Keep fingernails short and clean
  • Keep long hair tied back and in a tidy condition

The admission requirements are:

  • Read, write, and speak English at WPL Level 4
  • Manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4

  2. Microorganisms associated with Foodborne illnesses
  3. Preventing Food Contamination – 5 Key Hygiene Principles
    • Practice good Personal hygiene
    • Use Safe Ingredients
    • Handle Food Safely
    • Store Food Safely
    • Maintain Cleanliness of equipment and premises
  4. Conduct Food Safety and Hygiene checks

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as [code name i.e., FSS-FRC-2004-1.1 Food Safety and Hygiene-2].
  • Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub

Upon meeting at least 100% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

Funding Eligibility Criteria

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses.
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments and attain 100% competency.
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

SkillsFuture Credit:

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

UTAP:

  • This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).
  • NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP.

Absentee Payroll (AP) Funding:

  • $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year.
  • AP funding will be computed based on the actual number of training hours attended by the trainee.
  • Note: Courses / Modules under Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) will not be eligible for AP funding claim.
