New academic board of NTUC LHUB
Mr Yeo Li Pheow joined the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) on March 2023. Prior to his appointment at IAL, Mr Yeo served 14 years and 9 months as Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Republic Polytechnic. Mr Yeo has held various appointments in different polytechnics since 1990. From May 2001 to Apr 2003, Mr Yeo was the Deputy Director, Higher Education Division at the Ministry of Education. Mr Yeo spent the first six and a half years of his career in the banking industry before he joined the education sector.
Mr Jeremy Ong is the Chief Executive Officer at NTUC LearningHub from 5 November 2021. Mr Ong has over 30 years of working experience with a deep appreciation in technology, operations, and innovation. Most recently, he was the Chief Customer & Operations Officer at AXA Singapore from October 2019. Prior to joining AXA Singapore, Mr Ong was a Senior Vice President in NTUC Enterprise Group CEO’s office from August 2018 to September 2019, focusing on group level transformation, ecosystem development, merger & acquisition, and strategic partnerships. His career with the NTUC group started in NTUC Income from January 2014, where he was the Chief Technology Officer & Head of Customer Operations. He had also served on the Board of NTUC Link, the group’s loyalty business, from 2016 to 2018. In AXA and NTUC Income, Mr Ong had implemented information technology (IT) strategy to drive digital transformation of insurance business, developed IT Architecture roadmap to modernise core legacy systems using cloud solutions, established DevOps & Security Operations Centre, adopted Data Analytics, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence to support strategic projects. Beyond his experience and insights in technology, Mr Ong is also savvy in business management, having led large cross functional teams with diverse skill sets in customer experience, product development, branding, and marketing, to harmonise business functions and operations. In AXA, he spearheaded a company-wide initiative to simplify and innovate business processes and systems to strengthen customer propositions. Prior to joining the NTUC group, Mr Ong held senior executive roles in various technology firms including BCS Information Systems, NCS Group and Singapore Computer Systems Ltd. In these roles, he delivered the nation-wide FAST payment system that enables PayNow. He also managed large IT outsourcing projects for global and regional banks, including the Citibank Asia IT Outsourcing in transaction banking services. Mr Ong started his career in the civil service, and he held several management positions including Chief Information Officer in the Ministry of the Environment and Chief Engineer in the National Environment Agency. He left the Ministry after 14 years of dedicated service. Mr Ong is currently a member of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Master of Science Business Analytics Program Advisory Board. He also served as a member of the judging panel for the Excellence in Public Service Awards from 2015 to 2016 , and a member of TechSkills Accelerator Committee of the SkillsFuture Singapore programme from 2015 to 2018. Mr Ong holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from NUS, and he is a graduate of the inaugural Asian Financial Leaders Programme from Singapore Management University (SMU), International Institute for Management Development (IMD) Business School, The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania, and Tsinghua University.
Terence is responsible for the overall finance control of LHUB. His primary responsibilities involve managing the financial risks and planning, as well as financial reporting of performance and forecast to our Board of Directors. He has 16 years of experience in regional financial management across various industries such as logistics, manufacturing and IT. He has also worked in China for 4 years with JDEdwards. In his most recent position, Terence was with Keppel Logistics as a Financial Controller covering various Asian countries in areas of controllership, enterprise risk management, financial due diligence and Merger & Acquisition. He was also on the Board of Directors for 2 of its subsidiaries, Transware Distribution and Keppel Logistics Malaysia. Terence received a Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University and his MBA from Calstate University, Hayward.
Sivakami is the Senior Director of Employability Campus in NTUC LearningHub. The Employability Campus complements the work of the Labour Movement in helping workers gain work and life skills that transform their lives, helping them to remain employable, and to grow and improve themselves through lifelong learning. She started her career in NTUC LearningHub since its incorporation as a Curriculum Manager before moving on to sales. In the last 7 years, Sivakami was part of and managed the various sales teams in LHUB. In her last role as the Assistant Director of Sales, she had the opportunity to work with the full spectrum of customers that LHUB served – individuals, unions, labour intermediaries and corporate organisations. Prior to joining LHUB, Sivakami spent 3 years in NTUC Administration and Research Unit (ARU) Skills Development Department. She was involved in curriculum development and the running of the IT Training Centre. Sivakami holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science & English Language) from National University of Singapore and a MBA with Merit from Manchester Business School.
Cynthia Lim oversees the Quality and Operations Department of LHUB. She is responsible for driving quality-compliance and improvements, pertaining to operations within LHUB.
Cynthia has more than 10 years of quality management experience under ISO and various quality standards. Prior to this, Cynthia also worked at the NTUC Admin Research Unit (ARU) managing systems, operations, membership recruitment and Skills Development Redevelopment funding administration.
She received a Bachelor of Science (Economics) from National University of Singapore.
Anthony heads the Next U Campus which focuses on business excellence solutions for PMEs and holistic consultancy services for corporate clients in particular. Prior to that, he has worked in the education and training industry for the past 15 years, holding various functions.
After his 4-year stint as a Senior Academic Staff with Republic Polytechnic, Anthony joined NTUC LearningHub as a Senior Training Manager, overseeing courseware and trainers’ management. With his vast sales experience and his desire to better understand industry needs and demands, Anthony was transferred internally to become the Senior Sales Manager, heading the Institute of Business Excellence sales team.
Anthony hopes to develop in-house pedagogy using more technology-based, engaging and modern teaching and delivery methods. Being experienced in sales management, he has a deep understanding of the industry’s business and training needs. In his previous position as Head of CMD, Anthony was well positioned to lead his team to provide total solutions that were unique to each client.
Anthony graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Finance. He also holds a MBA from Nanyang Technological University, majoring in Accountancy.
Sean leads the Human Capital effort at NTUC LearningHub (LHUB), overseeing all aspects of human capital management and development practices in the organisation. He brings a diversified wealth of experience in human capital and organisation development. With previous roles in Resorts World Sentosa, Auric Pacific Group, SMRT and UOB, Sean had been involved in a wide spectrum of interventions including HR transformation, jobs redesign, talent development, learning & development and industrial relations. Sean holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from University College Dublin.
Ee Learn heads the Trades Division, the largest provider of WSQ Security as well as Workplace Safety and Health training for SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). The division works with the regulators, unions and industry to provide a comprehensive range of learning services and solutions for security, cleaning, industry skills as well as workplace safety and health skills and certifications.
Ee Learn started his career with the Ministry of Defence where he was involved in training, operations, information technology and supply chain functions across the organization. Having accrued experiences through both international and national projects, Ee Learn moved on to the industry where his corporate functions include operations, food production, supply chain management, safety, security and information technology. He had served as a board member for several private organizations.
Ee Learn is a strong believer in continuous experiential learning and improvement. He graduated with honours in Engineering from King’s College London, and holds a Masters of Engineering in Logistics from MIT.
Mr Tan joined Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) as a lecturer in 1991 after 12 years in the IT industry. He subsequently held several management positions in NP and was seconded to the Ministry of Education as the Deputy Director of the Higher Education Division from 2009 to 2011. He was appointed Deputy Principal of NP in 2001, a position he held till 2007 when he was posted to Singapore Polytechnic as its Principal. Mr Tan retired from Singapore Polytechnic at the end of 2012. Mr Tan graduated with a first class honours degree in Computer Science from Imperial College London and a MSc in Technology Management from Manchester University. He was awarded the Public Administrative Medal (Silver) in 2001.
