Course Objectives

This course aims to provide the learner with generic knowledge, principles and application skills in Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) techniques. The learner is expected to be equipped with the following skills upon completion of the course:

  • General understanding of failures and failure mode theory
  • Identification, implementation, and follow-up of FMEA methodology
  • Application and practice of skills in FMEA techniques
  • Identifying and assessing the actual and potential failures in product and process designs

Pre-requisites

  • ‘O’ Level educational qualification

OR

  • Participants with the following competency ratings from the Employability Skills are eligible:

– Listening/ Speaking Min. Level 8

– Reading/ Writing Min. Level 8

– Numeracy Min. Level 8

Course Outline

  • Prepare to apply the design and process of FMEA relating to the organization FMEA procedures and related industries standard
  • Apply the relevant steps of implementing the Design and Process FMEA techniques related to the industries standard
  • Create relevant diagrams relating to the organisational product and process flow
  • Develop the FMEA failure risk measurement for the organization product/ design and process flow activities in accordance with related industries standards
  • Decide the corrective actions for each identified major failure mode and develop the execution plans based on group discussion and decision
  • Perform follow-up and continual maintenance of FMEA document as determined in the organization FMEA procedure
  • Develop a control plan to manage the product and process risks as indicated in the industries standard
