Mode of Assessment

Students will be required to complete a paper-based written assessment which comprises of short questions and multiple-choice questions after the class. After completing the course, students will also have the option to undertake the Certified Usability Analyst certification (CUATM), conducted by HFI. About CUA Certification: Upon passing the CUA exam, successful test-takers will receive:

  • The CUA exam is only available online
  • It is offered one day per month
  • There is a total of 100 multiple-choice questions, with four available response options
  • A unique online exam is presented to each test-taker by randomly selecting equivalent questions from a larger database of questions
  • The CUA certification does not expire since passing the CUA exam demonstrates mastery of the fundamental principles of user-centered design
  • An authenticated certificate sent by postal mail
  • A profile in the HFI online CUA Directory, which they can update at any time
  • An invitation to join the CUA group on LinkedIn/Facebook
  • An invitation to join CUA Central, the official online community for CUAs

Course Overview

These 4 modules, 7-day accelerated program teaches research-based principles of designing interfaces from the perspective of the end-user. Learn how to perform data gathering, task analysis, and usability testing. Pinpoint usability problems and offer design solutions. The usability analyst brings the critical success factor to bear throughout the development life cycle.

HFI-Certified Usability Analysts pass an examination demonstrating their mastery of the fundamental principles of user-centered design. The following HFI courses provide a solid foundation in this knowledge. These courses have been customised to be applicable to the BFSI sector but are equally contextual and relevant to other sectors deploying digital channels to reach and serve their customers.

Course Outline

Module 1 User Experience (UX) Foundations:

How good user experience design is dependent on a scientific understanding of how people function. How the key research-based models, insights, and principles in the UX field impact design. This includes aspects of human:

Various methods that directly apply these models, insights, and principles to design of interactive applications. Variation in users that impact design. Understand the challenges of survey design

Module 2 User-Centered Analysis and Conceptual Design:

  • Develop a design strategy
  • Create user profiles, personas and scenarios
  • Develop meaningful interview questions
  • Carry out effective interviews
  • Understand the challenges of survey design
  • Analyse task flow
  • Understand and identify primary nouns
  • Develop user-driven information architecture
  • Engage in user-centered task/tool redesign

Module 3 The Science and Art of Effective Web and Application Design:

  • Identify, select, and implement appropriate navigation models used to build intuitive navigation structures
  • Make better decisions and recommendations to improve visual design, including: layout, color, graphics and icons, and text
  • Implement effective usability-based content organisation and treatment methods
  • Ensure intuitive interaction through appropriate UI control selection and error and feedback design
  • Increase design efficiency using Web and application standards
  • Extend their UCD sphere of influence into the domains of user experience, accessibility, and cross-cultural design

Module 4 Practical Usability Testing:

  • Survey the scope of usability issues
  • Know the four factors that drive your testing
  • Know the appropriate test and when to use it
  • Learn tests that uncover problems with content organisation, task flow, and brand strategy
  • Conduct performance-based tests using paper and functioning prototypes
  • Review advanced prototype testing that adds precision to your performance measures
  • Design and conduct a remote test
  • Learn to analyse Web traffic logs
  • Review a 10-point checklist of the critical components of a successful usability test plan

Individual:

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents physically based in Singapore
  • Trainee has to complete 100% attendance and pass all relevant assessments and examinations
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria

Corporate:

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents physically based in Singapore
  • Company must be Financial Institutions regulated by MAS (licensed or exempted from licensing). FinTech firms must be certified by Singapore FinTech Association (SFA)
  • Trainee has to complete 100% attendance and pass all relevant assessments and examinations
  • Eligible company-sponsored trainees will be able to clock CPD hours upon successful course completion

Class Allowance

For courses commencing before 1st January 2021:

  • Singapore Citizens and permanent residents of all ages will receive course fee subsidies of 95%
  • Training Allowance – $10 per training and assessment hour (Self-sponsored individuals), $15 per training and assessment hour (Sponsoring companies in Finance and Banking)

For all courses commencing after 1st January 2021 and before 1st July 2021 :

  • Singapore Citizens and permanent residents of all ages will receive course fee subsidies of 95%
  • Training Allowance – $15 per training and assessment hour (Sponsoring companies in Finance and Banking)

For all courses commencing after 1st July 2021 and before 31st December 2021 :

  • Singapore Citizens and permanent residents of all ages will receive course fee subsidies of 90%
  • The course fee for individuals and corporates are shown in the pricing table.
