Course Overview

This unit covers basic principles in working within/ around confined space. It includes the knowledge and skills for the use of appropriate gas testing equipment and methods, to obtain representative results for the assessment of atmospheric conditions in confined space for safe entry and work. The skills and knowledge covered will enable you to be appointed as confined space safety assessors under the relevant regulations.

Pre-requisites

With effect from 30 July 2019, the Numeracy (Maths) and Science (Physics and Chemistry) requirements will be removed as pre-requisite for the course Assess Confined Space for Safe Entry at Work (ACS) to allow experienced individuals to enrol for the course to be a confined space safety assessor in their respective industries.

You are assumed to have relevant knowledge in Workplace Safety and Health to understand and comprehend the topics.

Course Outline

  • Prepare for confined space assessment
  • Identify hazards and take measures in confined space
  • Conduct gas testing to ascertain the atmospheric condition in the confined space is safe for entry
  • Participate in risk control and emergency response for entry into and working in a confined space
  • Monitor the confined space conditions and control measures for safe working

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded upon completion of each unit.
