Who Should Attend

This course is relevant to you if you would like to attain the Specialist Diploma in WSH, which is part of the certification requirement under the WSH Act, in order to be a WSH Officer.

Course Overview

The WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health (SDWSH) qualification is designed for individuals, such as yourself, who are keen to join the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) profession as WSH Officers. It is a recognised qualification for registration as a WSH Officer under the WSH Act.

Pre-requisites

You are required to fulfill any of the following tracks to be eligible for the course

Track 1:

  • A recognised Technology / Science-related Diploma / Engineering Degree;

AND

  • At least 2 years of WSH relevant working experience;

 

Note: Recognised Technology/Science-related diploma / Engineering degree refers to the qualifications from local Polytechnics and Universities. Foreign qualifications would be referred closely to Professional Engineers (Approved Qualifications) Notification from the Professional Engineers Board Singapore.

Track 2:

  • Possess Employability Skills Workplace Literacy Level 6 or GCE O Level English Grade C6
  • GCE O Level Math & Science Grade C6, or bridging course
  • Possess GCE ‘O’ Level Science (Physics) grade C6, or Certification of Performance Physics bridging course
  • Possess WSH Skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH
  • Have at least 2 years of post-WSH qualification working experience as WSH Supervisor, WSH Coordinator or similar occupation role

Track 3:

  • Possess Employability Skills Workplace Literacy Level 6 or GCE O Level English Grade C6
  • GCE O Level Math & Science Grade C6, or bridging course
  • Possess GCE ‘O’ Level Science (Physics) grade C6, or Certification of Performance Physics bridging course
  • Possess WSH Skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH
  • Have at least 5 years of WSH-related working experience, in which 2 years should be recent working experience such as WSH Supervisor/Coordinator

You may also be required to undergo a pre-qualifying test.

  • Establish WSH Policy and Advise on WSH Legal Compliance Issues
  • Identify WSH Hazards and Assess WSH Risks
  • Recommend WSH Control Measures
  • Manage WSH Risk
  • Develop a WSH Management System*
  • Design and Implement Behavioural Safety Programme
  • Establish and Review Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan
  • Develop a WSH Culture
  • Lead Workplace Communication and Engagement
  • Compose Technical Report
  • Establish Measurement and Monitoring of WSH Performance
  • Establish and Manage WSH Incident Investigation and Analysis Processes
  • Manage Internal WSH Audit System

And the following Elective Modules:

  • Manage WSH in the Manufacturing Industry
  • Solve Problems & Make Decisions at Managerial Level
  • Support the Establishment of a Framework for Initiative and Enterprise

*Note: “Develop a WSH Management System” has to be taken as the last core module.

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a transcript and their Certificate in WSH.
