Who Should Attend

The WSQ cleaning aims to help workers in the cleaning industry obtain the fundamental skills and equip them with the basic knowledge of cleaning for their specific environment.

Course Overview

On completion of this module, the participant will be equipped with the necessary and relevant knowledge and skill in food hygiene and industrial health and safety procedures in cleaning food shops. Participants will be equipped with the skill sets in selecting the appropriate tools and chemicals to clean various areas in a food shop such as toilet, hard floor, utensils, tables and seats and refuse-holding area.

Course Outline

Food Hygiene, Industrial Health, and Safety Procedures

  • Learn about kitchen and personal hygiene
  • Learn about types of personal protective equipment and how to handle chemicals, cleaning supplies, tools and equipment

Select and Pack Cleaning Tools, Equipment, Chemicals and Supplies

  • Identify and learn how to select different types of tools, equipment, and materials required for cleaning food shops

Clean Toilet and Hard Floor

  • Identify and learn about different types of sanitary fixtures, fittings, and materials for toilet walls and floors
  • Identify different types and uses of cleaning tools, equipment, chemicals, and supplies
  • Learn the proper procedures for cleaning the toilet and hard floor

Identify utensils and receptacles for collecting and washing purposes

  • Identify types of different crockery, cutleries, and receptacles

Collect Used Utensils

  • Learn the proper procedure for cleaning, sorting and transferring of utensils for washing

Clean Tables and Seats

  • Identify types of tables and seat
  • Learn how to clean tables and seats

Clean Refuse-holding area

  • Identify the types and uses of work equipment
  • Learn the proper procedure for cleaning waste bins and refuse-holding area

Reinstate work area

  • Inspect the work site for cleanliness and completion of job
  • Check for damages on all equipment and tools
  • Recording of work activities

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)
  • Certificate of Attendance from NTUC LearningHub

  • Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria

SkillsFuture Credit: 

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

UTAP: 

  • This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).
  • NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP. 

PSEA: 

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) funds to offset course fees payable after funding.

  • If there is “PSEA” under keyword tags, the course is eligible for PSEA.

Absentee Payroll (AP) Funding: 

  • $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year.
