Course Objectives
On completion of this module, trainee will gain knowledge on different methods of evacuation and evacuation procedures and be able to apply them in the workplace.
Pre-requisites
- Minimum secondary 2 education
OR
- Participants with the following competency ratings from the Employability Skills are eligible:
- Listening/Speaking Min. Level 4
- Reading/Writing Min. Level 4
- Numeracy Min. Level 4
OR
- Participants may also be required to undergo a pre-qualifying test during registration
OR
- Participants who have taken WSQ Basic Licensing Units (Handle Security Incidents & Services and Provide Guard & Patrol Services either under WSQ or NSRS) are also eligible

- Methods of extinguishing fire
- Classification and Types of fire
- Basic stages of fire development
- Basic concepts and behaviour of fire including Triangle of Combustion
- Types of fire extinguisher
- Implications of incorrect use of fire extinguisher on class of fire
- Correct classification of fire and fire type and selecting of appropriate fire extinguisher
- Operating a fire extinguisher
- Organisation procedures for emergency management of fire
- Occupational health and safety procedures for management of fire
- Risk and hazard recognition
- Personal protective equipment
Demonstrating correct usage of fire hose reel
- Theory of fire including Triangle of Combustion
- Types and use of fire hose reel
- Implications of incorrect use of fire hose reel on class of fire
- Organisation procedures for emergency management of fire
- Occupational health and safety procedures for management of fire
- Risk and hazard recognition
- Personal protective equipment
Assisting in evacuation
- Organisational evacuation policy and procedures

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by
