Who Should Attend

The module is targeted at personnel performing the role of new entrance and existing security officers that have yet to take this module. (With Effect from 1 Jan 2020, Recognise Terrorist Threats has become a mandatory module for security officers)

What's In It for Me

The training will equip the SOs with the competency in recognising and responding to terrorist threats and prepares them to assume their role most effectively.

With RTT becoming another mandatory module, SOs will now be more deployable to other sites given them better opportunities and exposures.

Course Overview

This module enables you to acquire the abilities and knowledge relating to the Technical Skills Competency (TSC) of Threat Observation at Level 1 proficiency.

At the end of the module, you will be able to:

  • LO1 Describe contemporary terrorist threats and to take appropriate action based on organisational procedures
  • LO2 Identify person-borne threats and to take appropriate action based on organisational procedures at the workplace
  • LO3 Identify suspicious vehicle and vehicle borne threats at the workplace and to take appropriate actions based on organisational procedures
  • LO4 Recognize object-based threats based on various TTI of malicious and obvious signs and to take appropriate actions based on organisational procedures

Pre-requisites

The admission requirements are:

  • Ability to read, write, speak and listen to English at WPL Level 4
  • Ability to manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4
  • To be able to act in a professional manner
  • Ability to observe confidentiality
  • To be vigilant at all times

Physical and Medical Requirement:

  • Certified by a medical doctor to be physically fit for work
  • Must not be color-blind or hearing impaired

  • How attacks are carried out

2.  Identify person-borne threats and to take appropriate action based on organisational procedures at the workplace.

  • Person borne threats
  • Tell-tale indicators of a suspicious person and activities
  • Security questioning
  • Appropriate action in dealing with suspicious activities

3.  Identify suspicious vehicle and vehicle-borne threats at the workplace and to take appropriate actions based on organisational procedures

  • Vehicle borne threats
  • Tell-tale indicators
  • Security questioning
  • Appropriate action in dealing with suspicious activities

4.  Recognize object-based threats based on various TTI of malicious and obvious signs and to take appropriate actions based on organisational procedures.

  • Object-based threats and mails with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and chemical or biological agents.
  • Escalation of incidents
  • Precautionary measures based on the organisational procedure at the workplace

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will be issued for each module graded competent. SOA reflected as SEC-OBS-1002-1.1 Threat Observation.
